Playwriting 11+: Tue 6:15-7:15 pm - DJTH

Playwriting classes are creative, collaborative, and a great way to build storytelling skills. Students learn how to develop characters, shape dialogue, and structure scenes through guided writing exercises and group discussion. Along the way, students build confidence in their writing and learn how plays move from the page to the stage. By the end of the session, each student will have written a short play and get an audio recording of their work, bringing their story to life through voice. Students will not perform during showcase.

Note:

Playwriting 11+ on Tuesdays 6:15-7:15 pm takes place at Davenport Junior Theatre, located at 1002 West Kimberley Rd. Davenport, IA 52806.
Showcase and Tech Rehearsals will be held at the Nighswander Theatre, located at 2822 Eastern Ave. Davenport, IA 52803.

Theatre Classes begin Saturday, September 12th - Thursday, September 17th, 2026.
Classes meet once a week at the scheduled time.
Students sign in at front desk in the main lobby. Parents, please come day 1.

No Classes November 23rd – November 28th.

All students must be potty-trained before enrolling in programs.
Students should dress comfortably and be ready to move.
Students are allowed up to two absences per session. Any student who exceeds this limit will have their eligibility to participate reconsidered by their instructor and program coordinator.
